Saturday 3rd March 2018 - The Spa Hotel Saltburn.
Saturday 3rd March was the date Dawn and Ryan chose for their seaside wedding at The Spa Hotel, in Saltburn, and I bet when booking their March wedding they were expecting a touch of spring in the air and not the snow that we ended up with!
The week of the wedding was the week that ‘The Beast from the East’ stuck with the most snowfall we have seen in a long time, and causing chaos across the UK. With a lot of the couples family traveling from across the country for the wedding I imagine there was a slight panic in the air – but thankfully come Saturday the snow had stopped falling and the roads had cleared, and all that was left was a small covering of snow – creating a very beautiful backdrop for the wedding.
The day was very relaxed and full of smiles – especially from Dawn and Ryan’s little boy George – who was star of the show – although he was almost upstaged by their much loved dog Rodney, who made an appearance after the ceremony, and had a great time rolling around in the snow!
After photographing many weddings at The Spa Hotel, it was the first time I had photographed where the ceremony had been held in the Conservatory – and one I would highly reccomend with the beautiful backdrop for your guests to look out to, and then the lovely natural light coming in for me – perfect!
I was lucky enough that Dawn had chose The Countryside Florist for her flowers on the day (and as I am based above the florist in Skelton high street) I obviously knew to expect the best – and they didn’t disappoint! Dawns hair was done by The Amber rooms which are based within the hotel, and make up by Gemma from Pure Hair and Beauty in Stockton.
Working alongside my second shooter we captured the day from the bridal preparations to the first dance.
A lovely day full of love and laughter – and although we were sprung with snow in March – I think it was a great addition to the photographs.
Here is a sneak peek at Dawn and Ryans big day…
