About me

Emma Marie Photography is a Portrait & Wedding Photography company based in Guisborough which was set up in February 2010 by myself Emma (Marie!)

I first took an interest in taking photos as a teenager, I’ve always liked to be creative, if I wasn’t taking photos I’d be writing poetry, or acting or singing at stage school. I won my first photography competition at the age of 12 when I joined secondary school.

My love of photography really took off in 2007 when I had my first daughter, I think that’s when I realised just how important photographs are as babies grow and change so quickly so being able to capture that and have nice photos to look back on is so important. So that’s when I started to study what to do with a camera other than simply ‘take a photo’. I built everything up slowly using my daughter as my willing model! I studied Photoshop at college as I soon realised that editing would be a big part of being a photographer and good editing skills can completely change a photograph.

In 2009 I become a finalist in ‘Vision 09’ – a world wide portrait photography competition, where I got down to the top 25 images out of over 12,000 entries with my photograph ‘sweet like candy’ which I took of my daughter.

The image was then used in a photography exhibition.

In 2011 I also got shortlisted in a competition for British Weather Photographer of the year.

It was in February 2010 I decided to take the step and became Emma Marie Photography – and I haven’t looked back since and love what i do and the friends i have made on the way.

I am now a Wedding & Portrait photographer. My focus now more on Wedding Photography, as I just love weddings, I love the atmosphere and being able to capture such a special day and provide images which I know will be treasured forever!

I now have 3 daughters my youngest born in 2014 and love that I have been able to capture so many images of them growing up and love that I am able to do that for other people, my eldest daughter is now 12 years old and very eager to follow in my footsteps and will pinch my camera at any chance she can get!

In April 2015 I moved my portable studio and set up in Skelton High Street above The Countryside Florist. As well as my studio this is also my base for meeting my wedding clients.
